The large sandy blue flag beach of Poppit Sands is just 10 minutes further than Cardigan at about a 40 minute drive from Dolgoch Mill Cottages. If you are exploring the antique shops and restaurants of Cardigan (in Welsh Aberteifi) then don’t miss out on this popular beach.
Poppit Sands, all year round dog friendly, are at the mouth of the Teifi Estuary with the beach backed by dunes. At high water there is still plenty of beach but at low tide the sands go almost to Gwbert on the other side of the estuary. Be careful of the incoming tide as it’s very fast!
There is a summer cafe just next to the pay and display car park, public toilets and there are sometimes open days at the RNLI station just across from the cafe.
If you want a picnic away from the sand then there are grassed picnic facilities near the car park.
There is a hotel and Inn close by, just before Poppit Sands and in St Dogmael’s that both serve food, or you can park up in Cardigan where you’ll find various places to eat.
