Pembroke Castle and the historic town of Pembroke featuring a number of historic buildings are about an hour and a quarters drive from Dolgoch Mill Cottages.

Pembroke Castle is worth spending some time exploring and offers plenty of activities and events if you time your visit. There are tea rooms on site but Pembroke town, right on the castle doorstep, offers a wide range of restaurants and pubs.

It’s worth walking around the exterior of the castle to understand it’s size and location next to the mill pond before venturing inside where you will find plenty of interesting material to read and watch.

Just ten minutes drive back towards Dolgoch Mill Cottages on the A477 you’ll see another castle sign that points you towards Carew Castle. If you’re having a castle day then this is another one worth exploring. It has the added bonus of having a Tidal Mill just a short walk from the castle car park. We didn’t get a chance to explore Carew Castle but it is on our list to go back to!

Please note that there are entrance fees to the castles and mill. Please check their respective websites for current prices.
