About Us

Dolgoch Mill – Self Catering Holiday Cottages in Wales

If you are looking for self catering holiday cottages in Wales, Dolgoch Mill Cottages provide a wonderfully convenient location. We’re close to the West Wales coast and only an hours drive away from classic South Wales coastal attractions such as Tenby, yet surrounded by beautiful countryside. Wake up to the peace and tranquility of our valley and decide what you want to do for the day – go for a walk in the woods or jump in the car and be at the coast in 30 minutes.

We bought Dolgoch Mill, a former wool mill, in August 2016 and believe that there is always room for improvement and as such have, and will continue to enhance our cottages. We are really proud of the changes made so far and hope that the pictures tempt you to come and visit us. We want to ensure our three cottages are of the highest quality possible, with excellent facilities and as such always welcome customer feedback that we will always try and build into the next phase of our development.

Whilst you’re here, if you wish for help with your holiday, perhaps suggestions for a day out to local attractions, or something further afield, then we’re normally only a stone’s throw away. Equally, if you wish for complete independence that’s absolutely fine. All we wish for is that you have a great holiday.

Learn about the Welsh Wool Industry

Dolgoch Mill is steeped in history with the site dating back to 1884, on land that was once part of the Earl of Cawdor’s estate.

The wool mill was built in two phases: a two storey block originally powered by a waterwheel which is still present, although in need of some repair, and then ten years later another two storey block at right angles. The cottages were built within the oldest block in the 1970’s and the newer block forms our accommodation. In its heyday there were 15 weavers involved in the production of cloth at the mill, which closed following the mill owner’s death in 1969.

The National Wool Museum in Drefach Felindre is only a short walk away. It’s well worth a visit to appreciate the history of the wool industry that for many years was the most important industry in Wales with hundreds of active wool mills. Today, there are only a handful of commercial woollen mills still in operation and Dolgoch Mill Cottages are ideally located to visit the working mill at the National Wool Museum but also other mills just a short drive away.
